Tangentyere Archive  

The preservation of Town Camp and Town Camper history has been a priority for the Tangentyere Board since 1987 when the Tangentyere Archive was initiated. In spite of the intermittent funding and resourcing available over the past 35 years, the Board have maintained the focus on the Tangentyere Archive, and most recently the work was reinvigorated through the Local Decision Making processes driven by the Board.

The collection has significance on a local and national level, it includes social, family and political histories of Town Camps and Town Camp families. It also provides important historical information about significant events in the region and evidences Tangentyere’s ongoing commitment to self-determination.

One of our key objectives is to create a way to make content easily accessible to Town Campers and their families. Work to realise this critical aim is underway and ongoing. However, currently access to the archive is limited to the images below and is via request. Use the relevant form below to request use.
