At the core of all TCAC service delivery is the integration of cultural components in the development, implementation and operation of any program specific policy and practice. This integration extends to both cultural safety and competency. TCAC is a proud Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, and our well established human services are trusted by community members for the organisation’s high level of cultural competency. We recognise that culture forms an integral part of an individual's identity, and recognition of its importance in terms of potential impact on overall wellness is therefore vital.
Today, we deliver a wide range of services and participatory development activities to more than 10,000 people, in Alice Springs, its Town Camps and throughout Central Australia. Broadly this includes:
- Community Centres;
- Youth Development;
- Tenancy Support;
- Aged Care;
- Disability Support;
- Municipal and Essential Services;
- Repairs and Maintenance;
- Construction;
- Child Protection and Wellbeing, Kinship Care and Out of Home Care;
- AOD Harm Minimisation;
- Community Safety and Wellbeing;
- Violence Prevention;
- Employment and Training,
- Land and Learning, and
- Social policy Analysis and Applied Research.
We have a strong commitment to the employment of local Aboriginal staff, valuing this as a core feature of any culturally competent service, as well as the capacity development of Aboriginal people. At current, majority of the TCAC workforce is Aboriginal. Inherent within TCAC employment of local Aboriginal people is the concept of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). An emphasis on CPD means that the organisation is well placed to recruit and develop jobseekers.
