Safe House Carer
Level: 1.1 - 3.1
Salary: $28.69 - $37.35 per hour (plus casual loading for casual staff)

The Tangentyere Safe House (Ndarndarinjika Safe Houses) provides short term crisis accommodation for Aboriginal children between the ages of 0-12 years old, including respite care. Working from a child centred approach the aim of the program is to ensure that young people are supported therapeutically through the safe provision of a physically, emotionally, and culturally appropriate family environment. The program recognises continued connection to family and culture as integral to a child’s identity and has cultural safety as a fundamental principle of its service provision.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day support for Aboriginal children in our care, the primary focus of this role is to ensure the children are supported through a physically, emotionally, and culturally safe family environment. Safe House Carers work on a roster system within a home care setting and are required to attend to all aspects of the house whilst on duty with a primary focus on the care and supervision of all children residing in our houses.
As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.
This position involves out of hours work including evenings and weekends.

Youth & Community Safety Support Worker

The Tangentyere Youth and Community Safety (YCS) Division brings together a range of programs and services for young people. This includes the Brown Street and Child &Youth outreach Services. As well as our Night and Youth Patrol Service, including Looking After the Kids case management service. The YCS Division is increasingly working in an integrated fashion, ensuring staff and programs work together to provide holistic services for young people to achieve positive outcomes in education, safety, and wellbeing.
With services running seven days per week, and during school holidays, the YCS Support Worker will support activities across all these program areas. Including assistance with safe, fun, active, creative, and culturally appropriate activities and learning experiences for children and young people on at 3 Brown Street. Providing support to our YCS Night Patrol as a driver or support person. Or supporting our Youth Outreach Service to conduct activities at Town Camps without a place-based Youth Service.
The Youth Support Worker will have an excellent knowledge of the Town Camp community and families and be a part of the broader Town Camp communities.
The Youth Support Worker will work alongside a youth worker or patroller in delivering the program and activities.

Patroller

The Patroller will also provide early intervention, education and support to Aboriginal people and the wider community in a way that respects culture and human rights. With guidance from a Senior Patroller, they will provide referral and relevant information about support services to passengers. And will encourage responsible alcohol use, school, and healthcare attendance as well as support and empower Aboriginal people to make a choice that creates a safer environment within the Alice Springs community.
The hours of work are 6.30pm to 2am, Monday to Sunday. Flexibility around rostered days and times will be provided to the successful permanent candidate.

The Senior Patroller will be responsible for leading, where the team leader is not present, shifts, incident response, risk management and representing the service at inter-agency meetings.
The Senior Patroller is an Aboriginal Identified role that will provide early intervention, education and support to Aboriginal people and the wider community in a way that respects culture and human rights. Providing referral and relevant information about support services to passengers to encourage responsible alcohol use, school, and healthcare attendance as well as support and empower Aboriginal people to make a choice that creates a safer environment within the Alice Springs community.
The Senior Patroller will work closely with the Youth and Community Safety Senior Leadership team to achieve the objectives of the program to improve levels of community safety, promote culturally appropriate conflict and dispute resolution in the community and offer services in line with community safety priority, using non-coercive intervention strategies to respond flexibly to communities’ safety needs and priorities.

The Tangentyere Care Finder will provide specialist and intensive time limited assistance to help people to understand and access aged care services and connect with other relevant services with the overall view of improving people’s awareness and foster engagement in the aged care system.
The Tangentyere Care Finder will also provide support to eligible elders from their entry into the Care Finder program, the navigation of the system and determining services, connection to an appropriate provider, as well ongoing “post-connection” supports to ensure elders are receiving the services they need.
The successful applicant will be highly organised and will be able to manage a varied and heavy workload. They will have experience working with vulnerable people, have clinical knowledge and case management experience. This person will also have strong interpersonal communication skills, be self-motivated and have the ability to establish solid and sustainable professional relationships with all stakeholders. They will also be a team player and be able to work within the Aged Care program.

This position is responsible for coordinating daily operations of the Aged, Disability & Chronic Disease programs that form TACS by ensuring smooth delivery of services that are culturally safe. This position will work collaboratively with other members of the TACS Leadership (who include the TACS Nurse and Senior Community Support Workers) to ensure employee competencies are met, develop and maintain strong networks with external stakeholders, facilitate regular internal audits, fulfil program reporting obligations and contribute to identifying, implementing, monitoring and reviewing (as required) all quality and continuous improvement strategies and processes to maintain the ongoing sustainable growth of these programs.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills and have the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task. The Central Australian Youth Link-Up Service (CAYLUS) is a division of Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) - a community controlled Public Benevolent Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from Alice Springs Town Camps, Urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.
CAYLUS started as a petrol sniffing prevention project in November 2002, in response to widespread issues in the region at that time. While CAYLUS remains focussed on preventing sniffing, we also work to reduce the impact of other substance misuse by reducing their supply, harm, and demand across Central Australia through the delivery of youth services, training, remote rehabilitation outreach work, and various other targeted initiatives.
The Program Support Officer will welcome clients and stakeholders to our office and create a warm, friendly, organised, and tidy office environment.
The Program Support Officer will provide efficient administration and program support for CAYLUS Managers and staff, raising purchase orders, organising meetings, catering, agendas, and meeting minutes, and following up on action items.

Carpenter

Tangentyere Constructions, a subsidiary of Tangentyere Council, is a professional building contractor. Tangentyere Constructions promotes self-determination and community control in the construction industry.
Tangentyere Constructions delivers property management, new construction work, and trade repairs and maintenance works to Alice Springs Town Camps and remote communities & outstations. Carpenters will be allocated by the General Manager to work on projects under the supervision of the Property Management Team Leader or one of the Constructions Supervisors.
This Carpenter will work under the supervision of the construction supervisors, and undertake various construction related activities including but not limited to tasks such as constructing and upgrading municipal residences and buildings, maintenance services including carrying out necessary minor general repairs.
This position is also expected to work autonomously or as part of a team, demonstrate sound judgement and decision making. The Carpenter must be a responsible person and have the capacity to instruct and supervise unskilled labourers in basic construction related tasks.

CDP Employment Consultant

Tangentyere Employment Services (TES) delivers the Community Development Programme (CDP) for Alice Springs Town Campers, outstations in the region and Amoonguna.
The Employment Consultant works as a guide, coach, and advocate, working with job seekers to develop a unique Job Plans that develops a pathway for the job seeker to identify and overcome vocational and non-vocational barriers in order to enter sustainable employment. Employment and participation activities may include community participation such as cultural activities, work experience, training, mentoring and activities that support economic development of the community.
The TES service model is designed to maximise job seekers’ choice and control of their pathway to employment. The Employment Consultant supports the job seeker to navigate their pathway, drawing on the range of resources and connections in our wrap around model and using strengths-based assessment approach.
The Employment Consultant’s role is to provide employment assistance as defined by the Funding Agreement 2019 – 2022. This includes using an integrated case management system to service a caseload of jobseekers by:
