Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle (ATSICPP)

The ATSICPP acknowledges the unique capacity of Family and Kin Care as a placement type to provide opportunities for Aboriginal children to grow up safely in settings that ensure continued connections to their family, language and culture. These connections form an integral part of an Aboriginal child’s individual and cultural identity, sense of self, and wellbeing. The ATISCPP recognises that previous policies have caused suffering to Aboriginal people, and reflects their right to involvement in key decision making processes around the care and protection of their children.
